Page Middle Swim Club FAQ
The Page Middle Swim Club is a club sport. We do not have any official WCS staff, or WCS involvement in our club. We are organized by parent volunteers, and funded solely by swimmer's club fees.
For additional information, please read the 2024-2025 welcome packet for new athletes.
How long is the season?
We have our first meet in late October, and end with the Middle School Championship Meet in late January.
Is Middle School Swimming Competitive?
Yes. Middle School swimming can be quite competitive, but it’s also a great way for swimmers of different skill levels to get involved. Meets are typically organized so that swimmers with similar abilities compete against each other in the early heats. Many participating athletes swim year-round with Excel Aquatics, Nashville Aquatic Club, Ensworth Aquatics, and other local year-round swim clubs. While our mid-season meets aren’t sanctioned by USA Swimming and feature swimmers with various levels of experience, the Middle School Championship Meet at the end of January is where the competition really heats up, bringing together many of the top swimmers in the region.
Who governs Middle School Swimming?
The Middle Tennessee High School Swim Association (MTHSSA) governs high school, as well as middle school swim.
Who is eligible to swim with Page Middle Swim Club?
Currently enrolled 6th-8th graders at Page Middle School, or home-schooled students of the same grades zoned for PMS.
Do we practice?
No. There is no formal practice organized for swimmers. Swimmers are required to swim on their own or through a year-round swim program.
Do we have a coach?
We have two PHS swimmers who have committed to coaching this year. Their job is to submit meet entries, organize the swimmers at the meets, and cheer them on.
Are there tryouts?
No
What are the events/distances in meets?
The events that swimmers can chose from are:
50 Free
100 Free
200 Free
500 Free
100 Back
100 Breast
100 Fly
200 IM
(all short course yards)
When are the swim meets?
We typically have one meet per month beginning in October through January along with the championship meet at the end of January.
Is the Championship Meet a qualifying meet?
Yes.
*If a swimmer qualifies for the A final or B final at the Championships meet, we expect them to return at night to swim. If a swimmer attends the Championship meet, please prepare for them to swim in both the prelims or finals. If your swimmer cannot make both sessions, we ask that you do not declare.
The qualifying times for the MTHSSA Championship Meet are as follows:
(these qualifying times are subject to change)
50 Free: 35.99
100 Free: 1:18.99
200 Free: 2:54.99
500 Free: 7:29.99

Is there a separate fee for the MTHSSA Championship Meet?
Yes. For each swimmer who qualifies, and attends the Champs Meet there will be an additional meet fee of approximately $40
Do we have a PMS Swim Club team swim suit?
Team suits are not required. However, a suit is required to participate in meets. More information below on suits we've recommended in past seasons:
Our previous team suit was the Speedo Tone Setter Splice Black/Maroon (girls), and Speedo Tone Setter Jammer black/maroon (boys). These suits can be ordered from All American Swim (hunter@allamericanswim.com), or any outlet. This suit is not required, and any suit will be fine for those wishing to not purchase a new suit.
